Joe Scott of Iron Mountain Guide service in New Hampshire has a wealth of knowledge on bear baiting and hunting. My Father and Joe met at a work gig, instantly clicked and started hunting bear and rabbit together. Joe has outstanding beagles and some great snowshoe hare honey holes. I’ve enjoyed countless hunts in the winter time listening to the hounds work. One year when we went just about every weekend the yearly tally was up around 80 rabbits shot over his hounds. The following year Joe invited me up to bear hunt on his sites that he has been baiting since the early 80’s. My first sit I saw a silver fox and a Fischer cat at the bait. My second evening on stand I shot a beautiful NH black bear. I have hunted bear in northern Quebec as well as northern Maine. These white mountain NH bears are more tolerant to human presence than any other bears in the lower 48. I see a bear almost every day while hunting these sites (I also put the time in 4 hour morning sit and a 4 hour evening sit.) Joe and myself have become great friends over the years (20 but who is counting) we decided to both get our guides licenses and start letting other folks experience how hot these sites can be. I’ve helped drag out multiple bears over 300lbs. We have also had 4 professional hockey players come hunt with us all of them having an opportunity at a bear in a short window to hunt before their season started. I’m extremely excited to be teaming up with Joe and offering fully guided bear hunts. The hard work of prepping for bear season will be worth seeing the smiles on clients faces when they have had a successful hunt! I highly recommend all of Joe’s hunting services!
